While playing only 15 holes during the bunker renovation project is a bit peculiar, as we drive by the bunker son the first hole, the transformation is amazing! The contours are so smooth and there is an easy entrance. The new sand is fluffy and oh, so white it glares in the bright sunlight! This enhancement to our course will certainly magnify the pleasure of playing golf at The Villages.
Kudos to Judy Owen for arranging for our annual Turkey Shoot tournament. Everyone teed up from the #1 tee boxes so the game was fast and fun. We had four flights and four worthy winners; Janis LeCompte, Marky Olson, Joyce Mukuno and Lolivic Shaw. Susan Anderson won the best drive on Hole 4 , the only player to get her drive into the circle! Marky Olson won closest to the line on Hole 12 when her ball rested on the rope after a long slow roll.
Following the theme of a Turkey Shoot, Chef John Ilagan treated us to delicious turkey pot pies and homemade cranberry sauce which added the perfect bit of tangy sweetness. Several ladies commented on how beautiful the Clubhouse dining room looked with festive pumpkins and chocolate brown napkins. Great job, Chef John and the Food/Beverage department.
Shooting well today included birdies for Janet Gonzales (#9), Camille Giuliodibari (#17), Monica Saneholtz (#18), Janis LeCompte (#14), Millie Anne Schwerin (#17), Sue Park (#7), Joyce Mukuno (#10) and Susan Anderson who a shot birdie on #8 and an eagle on #16. Janet Gonzales (#9), Diana Hallock (#8), Annie Bassford (#14), Kathy Apgar (#4), Auralie Citrigno (#9) and Lolivic Shaw (#13) who had chip-ins.
