57 ladies turn out for perfect day of golf

By Pam McCarthy

A little-known fact about our beloved game of golf is that more than 80 percent of all golfers will never achieve a handicap of less than 18. So, let us joyfully celebrate the small but mighty victories we can achieve. Tuesday, September 17 was a perfect day for golf! Fifty-Seven ladies brought their best game and here are those results:

Front 9 Flight 1: Sheryl Driskell big winner with -3, Marky Olsen (-1), Debbie Moore and Mary Wagle (even).  Flight 2: Maxine Amundson took home the big purse with a net 3, Alice Glazer (+1), Betty Garcia (+3) and Delma Juarez (+5).

Back 9 Flight 1: Sue Daughtrey with -2 gets to take her big winnings to the bank followed by Kathyleen Pennington (-1), Jini Kang (-1) and Sue Park (+1).  Flight 2: Josephine Chan (Even), Sumi Minami (+3), Nancy Carson (+4) and Song Cho (+5).

Kitty Ohtaka captured a Birdie on #11 and the Chip-in purse was divided by 4 awesome golfers: Barbara Weisend on #9, Debbie Moore on #3, Marie Le Banc on#3 and Jane Smith on #10.

The following are important dates you may want to add to your calendar:

Tuesday, October 8, 8:45 a.m.—Swingers Golf / Sweeps / Captain’s Trophy

Just for Chuckles: During WWII, the British created special temporary rules for the game of golf. Like rule #3: The positions if known “delayed active bombs” are marked by red flags as reasonable, but not guaranteed to be a safe distance. And rule #7: A player whose stroke is affected by the simultaneous explosion of a bomb may play another ball from the same place. Penalty one stroke. Clearly, we Villagers take this game much too casually.
