9 Hole Women eagerly turn out for brisk January golf day

By Vicki Krattli

January 21 was another beautiful brisk January day and while we love the opportunity to play golf, the Bay Area is in dire need of some rain. Looking out to the next few weeks, it looks as though rain is not in the picture so we will continue to fill the back nine with eager players.

Our Flight one winners this week were Susan Sunzeri, Judy Owen, Sue Park, Gail Tuft, Marie LeBlanc, Boc Kim, Won Cha, and Gloria Lowry.

Flight two winners include Josephine Chan, Nancy Dawn, Andrea Alvarez, Carol Zaccheo, Diane Flannigan, Madeline Naftzger, Gwen Bindon, and Charlotte Waugh. Josephine was the low net player of the week with a nice 3 under par net.

Starting in February the results for our play days will be posted on the website along with a lot more great information so be sure to visit the site frequently at https://womens9holegolf.vgcc.club

Remember our Valentines Tournament is scheduled for February 11. Get your foursomes together and be prepared to sign up two weeks prior to the 11th.

The bunker renovation is proceeding with the first three holes to open for full play on January 23. Remember the area around the new bunkers is going to require all of us to be protective by making sure we do not drive carts on the new sod. Holes 4, 5 and 8 will open for play but bunkers and their surrounds will still be played as ground under repair.

Have a great day and enjoy your golfing.
