John Eige passed away on New Year’s Day. John was born in Marshalltown, Iowa.
He was 93 years old.
John graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He met his wife of 71 years, Martha, while he was there. John then obtained a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and continued his education at Stanford University.
John began his career at Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park. He then moved to IBM on Cottle Road in San Jose and was there for 23 years until he retired in 1991.
After retiring he lived in The Villages and the Florida Keys. John loved The Villages and participated in many activities and committees.
John will be greatly missed by his wife Marty and his two daughters, Jeanne Eige and Linda Eige. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
John was an intelligent, generous and loving man with many talents, interests and hobbies.
