Villages Tennis League to restart in Spring

By Betty Olsen

The Tennis Club is pleased to announce that the Villages Tennis League (VTL) is scheduled for play again this spring. The intraclub league will be similar to that of previous years. Play will be mixed doubles and conducted on weekday afternoons (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) and occasional weekend afternoons. The league is expected to commence play in Mid-March and continue for about 10 weeks.

The VTL will be structured where varying skill levels are on the same team, but individual matches will be between those of similar abilities; thus, matches should be competitive. Teams will be large enough that team members will not be expected to play every match.

For the VTL to function, team captains will be necessary. Many of the same people have stepped up to captain VTL teams in the past. Maybe some of us could assist them. Following registration, captains will draft teams and play will commence.

Remember that teams will be large enough that individuals will not be expected to play every match. If you are aware that you are going to be gone during much of the scheduled league, a sub list will be available. You will be needed and called from this list.

Find that old racket in the back of your closet, lace up those Converse tennis shoes, and prepare to lose those 10 pounds in your New Year’s resolution. To register, contact one of the VTL committee members: Peggy Seidel, Jim Murphy or Roy Pennington.
