August 30 was more terrific weather for golf on the Championship Course. The first group to tee off on hole number one was greeted by temperatures in the low sixties. By the time our fourth, and final, group completed hole number nine, the temperature was still trying to climb into the low eighties. Again, a beautiful day to be hitting the little white ball.

Our individuals reaching this week’s championship podium were, in first place,  Dick Henderson, Net 34; Tom Hunt, for the third straight week, grabbed the second position with a Net 36; finishing the day , rounding out the low four Net Scores of the day, shooting a  Net 37 was a tie between Walter Lucas, and Ron Speer.

Low Putts for this week were, once again, the subject of a very tight race. Thomas Hunt finished with 15 putts. Dick Henderson and Will Ector finished with 16 putts, Will Ector dropped in a 40 foot plus putt on the 18th green for a zero putt to secure the tie with Dick for the second top best putter of the week.

When you finish your round, we invite you to join us in the bistro for a no host bit of socializing. Have a late breakfast, early lunch or just a cup of coffee or an Arnold Palmer. It’s an opportunity to better know your fellow Pinseekers. Hope to see you next week.

Accompanying my weekly diatribe into the activities of the Pinseekers is an announcement for a memorial service honoring Larry Milligan, a long-time member of this fellowship of golfers just having fun. Larry’s service will be in the Cribari Center’s Oak Room on Sunday, September 8 beginning at 1 p.m.

No “words of wisdom” or golf humor this week. I suggest that you follow the advice of our Director of Golf Operations, Scott Steele, as he shares hints and ideas for improving your game. See his article every week in the Villager.
