Hiking Club Schedule

Bring water, snacks, poles, and lunch, as necessary. Wear layered clothing for the current weather. In addition to scheduled hikes, the following hikes occur regularly: Every Wednesday and Saturday – Villages Hill Hike with Russ Glines, 8:30 a.m. from Foothill Center. All hiking abilities are welcome; Every Monday – Walk Around the Golf Course with Terri Vivoli and/or Cheryl Allmen, meet at the Clubhouse parking lot at 8:20, leave at 8:30 a.m.  

Rambler Lite Hike Wednesday, October 16: Katy Peretti (408-531-0917) will lead a walk to the CVS shopping center where you will have an opportunity to buy a coffee at Boulanger. The hike will start at the Clubhouse and continue through the estates to Yerba Buena. We will reverse the route back to the Villages. Meet at the Clubhouse at 9 a.m.

Rambler Hike Wednesday, October 16: John Zhang (952-200-4113) will lead a hike to Los Gatos. We will start from parking lot near Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad and walk along Los Gatos Creek to downtown. Total hiking distance (round trip) is about three and half miles over flat terrain, mostly under tree coverage. Meet at Cribari Bell at 9 a.m. for 9:15 departure. Driving distance to Billy Jones wildcat Railroad will be 19 miles one way.

Rambler Hike Saturday, October 19: Guy Hoover (408-667-9935) will lead a Saturday rambler hike along San Francisco’s Embarcadero going from the Ferry Building to Pier 39. Parking ($8) is at the Golden Gateway Garage at 250 Clay St. Total hiking distance is approximately 5 miles over very flat terrain. The Ferry Plaza farmer’s Market will be in progress for those who want to get something yummy for breakfast before starting. Points of interest along the way include the Bay Bridge, Transamerica Building and Coit Tower, Plenty of benches along the way. Meet at Cribari Bell at 9 a.m. for 9:15 a.m. departure. Lunch can be at Pier 39 or any of several restaurants along the Embarcadero.

Rambler Lite Hike Wednesday, October 30: Katy Peretti (408-531-0917) will lead a hike to the new Bobcat trail in the lower hills. The hike will start at the dead-end at the top of Valle Vista Drive. We will then walk up the hill to the upper gardens, down the Bobcat trail to Rawhide and pass the stables to Foothill Center. Those participants who don’t wish to walk up the hill through Valle Vista to their cars, will have the opportunity to be shuttled back from Foothill Center to Valle Vista to collect your vehicles. Meet at the dead-end at the top of Valle Vista Drive at 9 a.m.
