12 Pinseekers tee up for cooler day on the course

By Jim White

What a joy to get to the first tee and see temperatures in the low 70s. A gentle breeze and mostly dry fairways and greens. The grass was in prime condition following the annual aeration done last week.

Twelve players teed up at hole number one starting at 12:03. While our putting was not up to the standard that we had set over the last two months, five members finished at hole number 9 with scores ranging from 36 to 38. It’s always nice to finish a round shooting at, or very near par, your course handicap. Coming in, at the top of the heap, Jerry Juracich had a Net Par, 36; in second spot with a Net 38 was Mario Silva. Just one stroke back of Mario found three, Pinseekers carding Net 38, Martin Hoek, Chuck Benjamin, and Ron Speer, each securing third place points and sweeps. As we have no upcoming scheduled days off until after the New Year let’s hope for continued good weather and a strong turnout from our membership.

As mentioned above, overall weaker than normal putting performances were rampant, however, Jerry Juracich and Martin Hoek each finished with 17 putts. Good job, gentlemen.

Reading about humor on the golf course I ran across this comment from an unknown source that reminded me of the seventies and playing golf in Texas, “If you’re not wearing plaid pants, you’re probably not taking golf seriously enough.”
