Gemütlichkeit rules at Glen Arden Oktoberfest

By Gabriele Ondine

A rousing good time was had by all at the Glen Arden Oktoberfest celebration held at the Vineyard Center on October 19. Highlights of the event included Dittmer’s bratwurst hot off the grill, potluck specialties offered by guests, 13 awesome silent auction lots, fresh-baked soft pretzels, a roaming photographer taking photos in front of a charming German village backdrop, and wonderful entertainment. A no-host bar was provided by the Clubhouse.

The crowd was thrilled and delighted with the wandering accordion player and singer, Joe Domitrowich. Joe provided a virtuoso performance featuring many German drinking songs in both English and German. Encouraged by Joe, the crowd was swaying side to side with the music, singing enthusiastically, and waving their beer cups in the air. A sing-along songbook was furnished for each participant.

The Vineyard Center interior was transformed into a festive Bavarian environment. Joyful blue table cloths and vibrant fall centerpieces added cheerful accents. Sparkling blue star balloons swayed overhead. Upon entering, guests were immediately transported to Munich for Oktoberfest hospitality. Great fun for sure!
