After numerous trips to The Villages, to visit one of my sisters and her husband, we sold our home in the city of Fremont. Fremont was a wonderful community in which to raise our family.
When we first moved to our retirement home, I was always asked, “Do you live here? What village do you live in, or how long have you lived here?” I did feel somewhat uncomfortable and uneasy because of the frequency of the questions. I quickly learned to ask the inquirer the same questions and the inquisition would soon end, or they would respond with their answers.
Moving to a senior community was a big adventure for my husband and me. We were 57, and he thought we were too young to move into a senior community but because he was having heart issues, he felt more secure with me living here if he passed away.
Well, as many of you know, he is still here due to the wonderful miracle of a heart transplant. We have lived here for over 19 years now and feel more relaxed and secure as we have matured in God’s grace. We know this is the place God has chosen for us to live.
Regardless of where we live or the circumstances, it has been proven that Jesus is always with us. He loves us so much that He is preparing a permanent home for those who have personally received Him in their hearts and are living with eternity in view.
Psalm 23 speaks to us about the Lord being our Shepherd and leading us through many stations in life until we reach our permanent address… “the House of the Lord.” Try reading this Psalm again and think about the many places God has brought you through. Hopefully, we will have the same forwarding address in eternity: Heaven!
Psalms 23:6 NKJV Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Please celebrate with us and experience the Good Life at the Villages Community Chapel in Cribari Auditorium every Sunday at 10 a.m. to be encouraged over the Word of Life and enjoy coffee and cookies with friends. The chapel is a place for needs to be met, faith to be affirmed, and new friends to embrace. You can view our worship services on YouTube at https://villagescommunitychapel.vgcc.club
