Recently it has come to staff’s attention that some medical waste was being intermingled with other recyclables in trash enclosures. Medical waste such as used syringes, lancets and prescription drugs is not recyclable. It poses a safety hazard and never goes into a recycling or garbage bin.
Used sharps (syringe needles, lancets) and medications may be dropped off at participating medical waste locations. Locations near The Villages include CVS Pharmacy at 4850 San Felipe Road and Evergreen Pharmacy at 2690 S. White Road.
