There were 47 Swingers who played golf on the back nine on November 12. Our tee times have moved to a 9 a.m. shotgun start until daylight savings time in the spring, which makes those cold mornings more bearable.
Some Swingers are still struggling with Cobalt. The management team at The Villages is aware of the problems and are working to resolve them. If there are issues with booking or deleting tee times, Swingers should contact the Pro Shop on the phone. If you Swingers have not already done so, please contact Mazie Rice, Membership Chair, if you want a change to your membership status or playing tees for next year. Our club is going to propose that we drop out of WNHGA in 2025. The reason for this is that we are not receiving much benefit from our annual contribution, as we do not participate in team play, and there is very limited participation in Corena Green, open days out of our area, or the Tournament of Champions. There will be further discussion and a vote about this at the General Meeting/Holiday Luncheon on December 17. Speaking about the Holiday Luncheon and Play Day, how fun is it that it will be a pajama party? This author and her playing partners have already purchased matching pajamas.
The Bunker Renovation Project is underway, with holes 1, 2 and 3 being closed. The project is estimated to take five months to complete. I was decided that one entire nine, front or back, will remain open throughout the project so that a consecutive nine holes of golf may be posted. If you play all 15 holes, please remember to post your own score using the hole-by-hole method. The USGA system automatically adjusts for the additional three holes when you post this way. We want to take this opportunity to thank local realtor and Villager, Lisa Gault, for donating $300 toward the prize money at our Fall Foursomes Exchange on October 15. At the exchange, we had 37 guests and 42 Swingers for a very fun day of golf. Scott has recommended that the Swingers make the #2 tees mandatory for Tuesday Play Days. This is due to our higher handicaps. Many of the Swingers who have made the change find that they are enjoying the game more, as they are able to be on many of the greens in regulation.
At the December General Meeting, the 2025 Board of Directors will be voted into office. Proposed candidates are: Captain Sheryl Driskell, Co-Captain Valerie Dimmick, Secretary Sherry Benz, and Treasurer Delma Juarez. Please help your club by attending the meeting so that we have a quorum to vote on the new Board. You will also be asked to vote on a By-Law change, Section 4 of Article VII as per the email you have already received from Gisele. In conclusion, keep in mind that many golfers prefer a golf cart to a caddy because it can’t count, criticize, or laugh.
