Bocce Fall Round Robin Championship Playoff
They came to play: 34 teams of eight rollers, six weeks with a couple rain delays. Finally it came down to eight teams who got rained out Monday, November 11. On the second try, Tuesday, Novemver 12, eight teams played and narrowed it down to four teams. And now on Wednesday, November 13 these four teams rolled off and the final game came down to two teams: Game of Throws versus LaBocce Vita.
And what a game it was. Back and forth swapping leads. For an hour these two teams fought for the win. And it came down to the final minutes in an extra frame roll off. As we all held our breath, Espie Martinez of Game of Throws was pitted against La Bocce Vitas’ Frank Garcia. And the final result: red won. LaBocce Vita survived the roll off. What a great Championship game.
After congratulations to all were shared, players and spectators adjourned to Gazebo Park for a victory celebration. Coordinated by Wendy Ledamun and her volunteers, everyone enjoyed delicious chili and homemade cornbread muffins. The two winning teams received their ribbons and their accolades—the result of six weeks of winning games.
