Catholic Community: ‘Hello Spring!’

The decorations on Cribari Lane announce Spring amidst the blooming of the trees. It is a nice way to be greeted as the season of new beginnings is upon us. Many religious and spiritual traditions use this season to express the depth of what this season means—new beginnings, freedom from oppression, new life and resurrection to new life. What has seemed dormant or even lifeless now blooms. How can one not react to the increase of light and warmth?
In the Catholic tradition we celebrate the actual Resurrection of Jesus who died on orders from the government at the time. His friends began to understand this reality, this resurrection slowly and gradually. When the reality became clearer it was not just that he was present again but rather that he was encouraging his friends to come into a new freedom in their own lives. They came together as a group to discover how they could live in this new way.
We continue to gather as community and support each other and to reach out to those who what to share with us. We have our ritual gatherings but also our social events. On June 1 we gather for our annual Brunch. It will be held at Foothill Center. The cost is $22 per person, which is charged to your house number. Registration is necessary as seating is limited.
