Over 200 members of the Chinese Club celebrated the annual Dragon Boat Festival on May 31 in the Cribari Auditorium.
Members enjoyed traditional celebratory food such as whole roasted pigs, soy sauce noodles, chicken broccoli, and zongzi sticky rice dumplings which are the iconic dragon boat food.
Entertainment kicked off with two dance sequences, followed by a light-hearted cultural talk show led by four couples from different regions of China, sharing how they celebrate Chinese New Year and weddings.
The highlight of the evening was a high-octane Lion Dance, an acrobatic Kung Fu show with two golden lions dancing, accompanied by thunderous drumbeats. It was lively and exciting!
The grand finale was an international fashion show with 27 members on a catwalk. Each participant was dressed in traditional costumes of their native country. The countries represented include China, Japan, Vietnam, Iran, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the USA. The costumes showcased the rich history and deep heritage of the country they represent. The show was simply breathtaking!
Over 60 volunteers participated in making the festival a success. The Chinese Club Board expresses their deep appreciation for everyone’s effort, talent and commitment. We couldn’t have done it without you!
