On Sunday, September 22, the Villages Chinese Club celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with a barbecue at Gazebo Park. From paper lanterns, mooncakes, to the legend of Chang’E, the festival is celebrated by Asians around the world for autumn harvest, when the moon is round and brightest.

At the Gazebo Park, over 200 members and guests came together to enjoy a festive dinner filled with juicy rib-eye steaks, honey glazed chickens, pineapple sausages, and potato salad. And for dessert, the iconic mooncakes, made with lotus seed paste and salted egg yolks. As we enjoyed the golden autumn breeze, we shared a spirit of togetherness with neighbors, friends and families under the luminous supermoon.

Over two dozen volunteers participated in making the event a success. Kudos to Clay Curtin for helping with setup. Most of all, our “hats off” to the team of excellent grill masters, which included GM Theresa Ostrander, whose hard work rewarded us with the most delicious food. The Club’s Leadership Team extends their utmost appreciation!

The Chinese Club offers members a wide variety of activities and cultural events. For more information, please check out our website at https://sites.google.com/site/villageschineseclub/home
