Don DeVincenzi passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 surrounded by his family. Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois DeVincenzi, his children Lisa (Bill) Kirchner, Laura (Keith) Booth, David (Giana) DeVincenzi, grandchildren Brian (Caitie), Kevin (Kate), Derek (Laura), and Jason Kirchner, Kirk (Sarah), Brandon (Hazelle), and Joshua Booth, Julia, Trevor, and Ryan DeVincenzi and 11 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, brother Bill (Beth) DeVincenzi, sister-in-law’s Lana DeMartini and Linda Rossi. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Madeline DeVincenzi.
Don was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He graduated from St. Mary’s College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry and earned his PhD in Biochemistry from UC Davis. Don had a distinguished 35-year career with NASA including his last position as Chief of Life Sciences.
Don enjoyed gardening, cooking, volunteering in The Villages and most importantly spending time with his family. He was a quiet, humble man who cherished his family and always put family first. Don, Dad and Papa was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in San Jose, CA. on February 28, 2025 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
