The Villages has had trained resident volunteers in the field providing exterior Firewise home inspections since November 2024. A new group of volunteers along with a few of the original volunteers continue to provide this valuable service. The residents carry an iPad loaded with special software to inventory the condition of buildings, landscaping and combustibles as it pertains to wildfire resiliency. They take photos of key components. This data will be used to forecast projects and budgets over the next several years to improve The Villages wildfire resiliency.
