Free art film: ‘Gustav Klimt: Main Man of Austria’s Art Nouveau’

The Villages Arts & Crafts Association is presenting an excellent film on the life and work of Gustav Klimt hosted by Marion Rose on Tuesday, March 18 at 2 p.m. in the Cribari Conference Room. His art is characterized by being bejeweled, decorative, sensual and powerfully erotic.
Klimt was part of the Viennese Secession, a group of German and Austrian artists that were moving art away from the traditional, much like the Impressionists did in Paris. He did not follow any of the trends of his times and was influenced by Greek and Egyptian themes, the avant garde of the turn of the century and learning the use of mosaics, frescoes and gold! His emphasis was on design and the line of beauty, breaking down barriers between art and craft.
This event is free to all Villagers and their guests. Popcorn will be served. An art-related door prize will be presented at the end of the film. This film runs for one hour and 20 minutes.
