The term disco is short for “Discothèque,” a French word for a dance club (according to Wikipedia). Discothèques as a venue were mostly a French invention, imported to the United States with the opening of Le Club, a members-only restaurant and nightclub located in Manhattan.
The disco scene’s mainstream appeal of the ‘70s was undoubtedly an exciting time with a huge cultural impact on many of us.
And what better way to relive that era than with a month of dancing to “Night Fever.” “Night Fever” is a song written and performed by the Bee Gees. It first appeared on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever on RSO Records in 1977.
