Get ready for some great Tennis events

Well darn, the Villages USTA 65+ 7.0 first match of the season was, you guessed it, rained-out on Friday, February 7. The next scheduled home match is Wednesday, February 19, so put that on your calendar to come down to the viewing stand and cheer on your Village team.

There are three upcoming tennis events you should have on your calendars:

1. Prescott tournament on Saturday, March 15. Randy Shaw is the chairman, and an email was sent out last week with a link to the registration page. Please help Randy and sign up early for this charity event for the VMA.

2. The VTL is scheduled to start mid-March. Roy Pennington is again the organizer along with Peggy Seidel and Jim Murphy. An email was sent out in January with a link to the registration page. Don’t miss out on this fun format for Villagers to play on teams. Matches are on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and weekends. Great way to meet other villagers of different levels. Help Roy out by signing up early.

3. Tennis Club Open House and Jump Start on Tuesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. is open to all villagers. If you know any villagers who have moved in in the last year, invite them to the open house. Resident pro, Brett Foreman, will conduct drills and demonstrations and will supply racquets and balls if needed. Strawberry shortcake and raffle prizes will conclude the afternoon.
