Did you know that we have a pickleball ball machine? We do! It is a great way to practice specific shots and hone your skills… while getting that muscle memory working for you.
Larry Rosene took over the duties of the Ball Machine Manager earlier this year, and is doing an amazing job. Not only does he carry out the training duties, he also performs regular maintenance tasks, and often communicates with the manufacturer behind the scenes to keep it running smoothly. During a career in manufacturing (working in a variety of industries: Auto, Defense, R&D, etc.), Larry acquired relevant experience working on comparable equipment. If you use the ball machine, you’ve already seen the improvements he has made (extension cord storage, cable routing, ramp repair, labeling, etc.) in addition to cleaning out and organizing the shed.
Larry and his wife DeeDee moved to The Villages almost three years ago. They thought it might be temporary, while they cared for DeeDee’s aging mother (who was a resident for a total of 45 years!), but like many of us, they fell in love with things here, and have remained. Their three children (and numerous grand-children) all live within a 150-mile radius of The Villages, making it a perfect central location for them. As well as the many other perks this community offers, they both especially enjoy the unique benefit of our private pickleball courts, and play weekly.
Larry is available to train most weekday afternoons. If you go to villagespickleball.vgcc.club, you can find the Ball Machine information.
He’s just another of our wonderful volunteers!
