The Ironmen are in morning play, gathering every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start, sweeps, birdie pool, and closest to the pin.
Thursday, April 17, 2025, was cloudy and cool. Ten Ironmen played.
Hiei Takazawa won First Place with a net 25; Chuck Benjamin won Second Place with a net 27; and four golfers shared Third Place each with a net 29: Joe Alarcon, David Hathaway, Sang Nam and Mario Silva.
There were three Birdies: one by Jerry Juracich on hole 5; one by Sang Nam on hole 2; and one by Hiei Takazawa on hole 9.
Hiei Takazawa won Closest to the Flag on hole 5 at 28 feet, 11 inches.
Sang Nam won Low Gross with a 31.
Golfer of the Day honors were shared by Sang Nam with low gross, a third place finish, and a birdie, and Hiei Takazawa with first place finish, a birdie, and closest to the flag. Way to go, guys.
A reminder: If every Ironman at every game would take the time to fill in all divots and green damage noticed during each week’s game, we would be making a big contribution toward maintaining our own course.
The Ironmen 9 hole, par 3 group would love to add new members. We are a very sociable group, and play basically pressure-free golf. And the first round is on us. Just call Jerry Juracich at 408-440-8283. You can also visit our website at ironmen.vgcc.club
Deep Thoughts: “Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday, and a hope for tomorrow.” – The New York Tribune 1916.
