The Ironmen are now in morning play, gathering every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start, sweeps, birdie pool, and closest to the pin.
Thursday, April 3, 2025, was sunny with mild temps. Another fine day for some golf. Nine Ironmen played.
Because there were fewer than 10 golfers there were no first, second or third places, or closest to the flag awarded. However, had there been: Chuck Benjamin and Jerry Juracich would have shared First Place, each with a net 26; Rich James, Bob Pritchard, and Mario Silva would have shared Second Place with net 29s; and Walter Lucas and Sang Nam would have shared Third Place with net 30s.
There were two Birdies: one by Paul Belknap on hole 6; and the other by Mario Silva on hole 9.
Paul Belknap won Low Gross with a 31.
Golfer of the Day Honors were shared by Paul Belknap, with low gross and a birdie, and Mario Silva with a second place finish and a birdie. Way to go, guys.
A reminder: If every Ironman at every game would take the time to fill in all divots and green damage noticed during each week’s game, we would be making a big contribution toward maintaining our own course.
The Ironmen 9 hole, par 3 group would love to add new members. We are a very sociable group, and play basically pressure-free golf. And the first round is on us. Just call Jerry Juracich at 408-440-8283. You can also visit our website at ironmen.vgcc.club
Deep Thoughts: “Whatever may befall thee,” says that great man Marcus Aurelius in his Meditations, “it was preordained for thee from everlasting. Nothing happens to anybody which he is not fitted by nature to bear.” – P.G. Wodehouse, “Ordeal by Golf,” c.1920.I like to think that this noble thought came to him after he had sliced a couple of new balls into the woods, and that he jotted it down on the back of his score card.
