Ironmen bid farewell to former President and Treasurer David Cook

By Jerry Juracich

The Ironmen are in morning play, gathering every Thursday at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start, sweeps, birdie pool, and closest-to-the-pin.

Today we bid adieu to a long-time member and friend, David Cook. David served as Ironmen’s President and Treasurer and wrote the software that our club runs on. David and Evonne will be moving to be nearer their grandchildren. They will be greatly missed. By the way, do you know anyone who wants to buy a vintage gas-powered golf cart?

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, 13 Ironmen played. It was warm and clear, another fine day for some golf.

Jim White won first place with a net 27.  Joe Alarcon took second place with a net 28. And Walter Lucas finished third with a net 29.

There were four birdies today: one each by Joe Alarcon on hole 5, David Cook on hole 4, Rich James, also on hole 4 and Sang Nam on hole 9.

There were no winners for closest to the flag on hole 8. That small, domed green can be a real challenge.

Sang Nam won low gross with a score of 33.

“Golfer of the Day” honors were shared by Joe Alarcon with second place and a birdie and Sang Nam with low gross and a birdie. Way to go, Guys!

A reminder: If every Ironman at each game takes the time to fill in all divots and repair any green damage noticed during the round, we would be making a big contribution toward maintaining our course.

The Ironmen 9-hole, par-3 group would love to welcome new members. We’re a very sociable group, and we play pressure-free golf. Plus, your first round is on us! Just call Jerry Juracich at 408-440-8283. You can also visit our website at https://ironmen.vgcc.club.
