Ironmen: Chuck Benjamin, Walter Lucas and Bob Pritchard tie for first place

By Jerry Juracich and Bill Travis R.I.P.

It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of our long-time club member, club secretary and friend Bill Travis.

The Ironmen are in morning play, gathering every Thursday at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start, sweeps, birdie pool, and closest-to-the-pin.

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, 13 Ironmen played. It was warm and clear, another fine day for some golf.

There was a three-way tie for first place between Chuck Benjamin, Walter Lucas and Bob Pritchard, all with net 27s. Gene O’Donnell took second place with a net 28, and Dave Hathaway finished third with a net 29.

There were three birdies today made by Arki Galicki on hole 9, Dave Hathaway on hole 8 and Walter Lucas, also on hole 8.

Walter Lucas won closest to the flag on hole 6 at 29 feet 10 inches.

Dave Hathaway won low gross with a score of 33.

Dave Hathaway and Walter Lucas shared “Golfer of the Day” honors: Dave with low gross, third place and a birdie, and Walter with first place, a birdie and closest to the flag. Way to go, Dave and Walter!

A reminder: If every Ironman at each game takes the time to fill in all divots and repair any green damage noticed during the round, we would be making a big contribution toward maintaining our course.

The Ironmen 9-hole, par-3 group would love to welcome new members. We’re a very sociable group, and we play pressure-free golf. Plus, your first round is on us! Just call Jerry Juracich at 408-440-8283. You can also visit our website at https://ironmen.vgcc.club.
