Behind the toe-tapping, spirit-lifting Voices, hums a steady beat of volunteers with verve who just say, “Yes!” That positive rhythm pulsates through the 45 or so strong Voices. Experience the energy yourself at the Spring concert “Live Love Sing!” on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and May 4 at 2:30 p.m. in Cribari Auditorium.
Voices volunteer and First Soprano Joyce Schornick joined Voices in 2017. She said, “I love to sing. Then, I backed out of Voices due to vocal health issues. In Spring 2024, I rejoined.” As a child, Joyce pictured herself belting out solos a la Julie Andrews. Joyce said Yes” to Voices the second time around because “the Voices are wonderful people. Their singing talents push me to be better at my own singing.” Joyce recently said “Yes” to being the Voices’ Membership Chair. “I questioned if I had the time. However, I love people and love learning about them. I also deeply desire that people feel appreciated and included.”
Voices President Myra Johnson hopes that others will step forward to volunteer once or regularly for the Voices. “For one-time opportunities, we need a Front House Manager for our May performance. We also would love someone who could oversee our tube stuffing from April 25-April 30 of our ‘Live Love Sing’ flyers. Voices members will hop on their golf carts and stuff the flyers. We just need a project manager,” she said, adding that Voices also is looking for a webmaster to keep the website updated. “This is a seasonal volunteer opportunity. We need someone to watch our website and update, as needed.” For information on these Voices volunteer opportunities, email Myra Johnson at themyrajohnson@gmail.com.
