Marian Gladys Ecklund, died on October 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. Hallmarks of her life included her love of Christ, her passion for nursing, her gifts of storytelling and song, and her investment in the lives of family and friends.
Marian was born in Pennock, MN. She was a graduate of Willmar High School, Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing, and the University of Minnesota, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1963) and a Master of Education (1964). Marian taught nursing at Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA, and College of DuPage, near Chicago. For the past 45 years, Marian and Stan lived in California where she worked in Geriatric nursing care, at the Santa Clara Senior Center (12 years) and as Director of Patient Care Services at Mid-Peninsula Continuous Care Home Health (5 years), before retiring in 2000.
Marian is survived by Stan, her loving husband of 60 years, three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl (Elaine), Kreig (Karen), Kier (Hung), and six grandchildren, and many close friends, all of whom feel her loss profoundly.
A celebration of life will be held at Foothill Covenant Church, 1555 Oak Ave, Los Altos, CA on January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Instead of flowers, the family requests that gifts in memory of Marian be sent to Keyara’s Gift, an educational non-profit named after her granddaughter and championed by Marian for its lasting impact in Liberia (https://www.keyarasgift.org/marianmemorial).
