‘One Body…Many Parts’

The human body is incredible by any standard. From time to time, when I think about the human body made from the earth’s dust, it’s mind-altering! In the Holy Bible, according to the Genesis account, humanity was created from the dust of the earth. It wasn’t until God gave man the breath of life that he became a living soul… to live eternally.

Psalms 139:14 NIV: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.

We know our bodies never stop changing. We reach our highest peak physically and intellectually, and the decline begins, ending in death. Due to the marvel of modern medical achievements and technology, we can receive organs from humans, animals, or artificial parts to extend our quality of life. If we could sustain perfect health, fitness, and youthful looks, there would be no end to the lines of people signing up! Eventually, the body would come to a complete stop due to the elements working against the body externally and internally.

On the other hand, the soul never dies, and for many people, there is very little concern or effort placed upon the soul of man. Well, should we be concerned about what happens after we have lived our lives pursuing desires for happiness and pleasure? As the saying goes, “When you are dead, you are dead, and nothing matters after that.”

If the soul lives forever, where does it go after death? As a person with a relationship with Christ, my soul goes to God. 2 Corinthians 5:8 AKJV, we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Those who accept a relationship with Christ will be reunited with Him with a new body in heaven forever. Sad to say, those who refused His love, sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection… reject God’s gift of forgiveness and redemption. Any place outside of the eternal presence of God is Hell. One day, there will be a literal Hell prepared for Satan and his followers.

Whenever there is a life-and-death situation, we can, in some situations, receive an organ transplant to sustain our lives. If we have a relationship with Jesus Christ, we are promised, after death, a perfect body that will last throughout eternity.

Please celebrate the Good Life with us at the Villages Community Chapel in Cribari Auditorium this Sunday at 10 a.m. to be encouraged over the Word of Life and enjoy coffee and cookies with friends. The chapel is a place for needs to be met, faith to be affirmed, and new friends to embrace. You can view our worship services on YouTube at https://www.villagescommunitychapel.vgcc.club
