Pinseekers adapt to course and weather changes

By Jim White

Winter has finally decided to let us know that it is waiting on the doorstep to visit us. A very cool and windy day greeted 11 Pinseekers played on the back nine once again. It appears that we will continue to play the back nine until the renewal project on the sand traps moves to hole 10 and beyond. I dug out a thermal t-shirt and stayed somewhat comfortable.

Our scores were less than spectacular, except for Martin Hoek who took first place and the top sweeps with a Net 31. In the second spot with a Net 39 was Leighton Horio, while Frank Garcia grabbed the third spot with a Net 40. Closing out the top four was a tie with Jack Bindon and Jim White scoring Net 41.

We were reminded that we are now playing winter rules. Lift, clean, and replace your ball, as needed, within 6 inches of your original lie and no closer to the flag.

Finally, while the fairways were a bit on the sluggish side and the greens played quite fast, one member hung in and finished the day with 18 putts. Congratulations to John Mueller.
