Pulse letter for October 3

Looking back on the Villages online publication “FastLane” and the now “Fast News,” which is nothing more than a link to The Villager Online, I pine for the FastLane. The FastLane brought us pertinent news updates on community, upcoming activities and reminders in a concise manner without going off to other sources (Villager Online). This replacement is just taking us to articles posted in The Villager Online and has much work needed to do in order to be user friendly. FYI—Because of the printing vendor issue we will never get our weekly paper back. The present online access is staying and will not be an “online newspaper” as we had hoped it to be, as our staff is not producing such a paper for online access. I do hope other people speak up and discuss what they would like to see given our printing vendor issues. I seriously doubt we will have a subscription option also.

Publisher’s Comment:
The Club Board at their September meeting mentioned appointing an Ad Hoc Committee to collaborate with the Villages Team to review and enhance the Villager Online, FastNews, and the printed versions of the newspaper. While the Communications team works continuously to improve the user experience by listening to member feedback, the Ad Hoc Committee will be another avenue to improve our publications. The Villages Team has been directed by CBOD to present a Charter at the October meeting for the Directors consideration.
