Pulse letter for October 31

I would strongly suggest that the CBOD seriously reconsider their position in wanting to create an “initiation fee” for new buyers. It’s my opinion that such a move would have serious negative effect on our property values. Finding new buyers could possibly require the seller
to absorb the initiation fee.
I have been a resident for thirty years and have voted to approve, and paid for, a number of multi-million-dollar projects, the Clubhouse, improvements to the golf course, the solar system, to name a few. I see no reason to create an “initiation fee.”
Obviously I will be voting “NO” for these CC&R changes because I still believe that The Villages is still more of a retirement destination rather than a country club. Just to live here requires that you must be 55 years old, I believe the average age of our community is in the
mid 70s. Now if you want to really be a “Country Club,” abandon the 55-year-age-requirement.
In my opinion this move would double our property values overnight! And would better justify an “Initiation Fee.”
