Giants of Broadway—such as Mary Martin, Julie Andrews, Ethel Merman, John Raitt, and Broadway’s most popular shows like “Oklahoma,” “My Fair Lady,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “West Side Story,” will grace Foothill Center in Senior Academy’s presentation of “The Golden Age of Broadway.”

This is an ode to Old Broadway from 1940-1970 presented by a highly successful vocalist/actress/lecturer and it makes for a wildly enticing way to spend a couple of hours on a Fall afternoon. Presenter Deborah Rosengaus will use actual show film clips to relate the history of one of America’s best-loved forms of entertainment—live theater.

These are the shows we grew up with, with toe-tapping music, great acting and exceptional raw talent. Rosengaus is a highly successful vocalist with impressive credentials who is fortunate to have an inside view of what constitutes great showmanship. She has appeared in opera and with symphonies throughout the Bay Area and has lectured at various colleges, including Santa Clara University – Osher.

The event on Wednesday, November 6, is from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Foothill Center and is free to Villages residents. Please register at VillagesSA.org or by calling Dee Garfinkle at 954-806-5493.
