Shonis share course with turkeys on beautiful Monday

By Betty Hall

See this photo of a gang of turkeys on the course. And that many more were right behind them. A couple turkey vultures flew over and this gang ran as fast as they could from the big course over to our par 3 #6 and huddled under the eucalyptus trees.

It was a beautiful golf day today, Monday, September 30. The Shonis played today due to the aeration schedule. But we’re sure glad we are not golfing Tuesday with the forecast high 80s during our golf time and 101° in the afternoon. I thought it was fall.

There were two birdies today. Rose Loy got her birdie on #5 and Jan Trusso got hers on #9. They split a three-week pot so we start over again next week.

Congratulations to the birdie girls.

No Putting for Pesos today but it will be back next week. Just in time for you all to practice for the last Captain’s Trophy of the 2024 year. Remember our year ends October 31 so November starts our 2025 golf year.

So for today’s sweeps, everybody gets some money. We had 11 Shonis and one qualifier.
