SRS recognizes contributions of founder Pat Janes

By Libby Nelson

Volunteerism is a fundamental aspect of life here at The Villages. Nearly all of our many organizations rely on the hard work and kindness of their members to keep things running smoothly.

One of the Villages long term volunteers, Pat Janes, a resident for over 38 years, is due some special recognition.

Pat was a long-time Verano resident and member of a number of organizations. A CPA/Educator by profession, in 2002, when she retired from SJSU, she turned her skills and knowledge to the creation of the Senior Resource Services. SRS was accredited in 2002 by the Club Board to provide business and community information to Villages Residences.

In the ensuing 22 years, it has become a stronghold in the community. The office in Cribari Center is “manned/womanned” by a trained volunteer three mornings a week, and articles in the Villager are a mainstay of knowledge to all of us.

Pat decided it was time to graduate on to an Assisted Living Community in Fairfield, and discreetly moved in early September.

She will be sorely missed for her great smile, friendly demeanor and care for all of us here at The Villages.

If you’d like to email your congratulations and thanks to Pat, she can be reached at janesp@sbcglobal.net.
