Loma Azules: The pumpkins are on a roll!
Never underestimate an opportunity to come together for some seasonal fun. Olivas Village current and former residents along with relatives and friends gathered on Loma Azules for the annual Pumpkin Roll contest where contestants competed for the fastest, slowest and longest toss.
Some 50 Villagers attended the October 24 event to see whose hand-picked pumpkin would win. Pumpkins rolled across lawns, struck trees and mailbox stands and into down driveways on the way! Even the Amazon truck weaved its way among the pumpkins and participants as it made a delivery. But it wasn’t just about the roll, as guests were encouraged to bring their chairs and refreshments to stay awhile and enjoy the fall lazy afternoon with friends and neighbors. At the outcome of the pumpkin roll, Judy Hecht’s son, Toben, won the fastest roll, with Heidi Cavagnolo winning the slowest and Judy (keeping it in the family) bring home the prize for the farthest.
