Masons are builders and start projects—and, in September 1969, the High Twelve International Club was one of the Villages’ first recognized clubs. At one point in its history, the small group of Masons grew to more than 130 members.

High Twelve’s mission is to provide service and social opportunities for Masons. The meaning of Hi-12 is Masons stopping work for lunch. Our service projects included the electronic waste and paper recycling projects, and newspaper and aluminum can collecting. The club also hosted the Annual Pancake Breakfast that filled plates with buttery syrup-drenched pancakes and sausages for more than 900 early morning attendees. The Pancake Breakfast project ended five years ago in 2019, and in December 2024 the High Twelve Club retired its charter.

Two main projects will continue. The aluminum can collection was transferred to the Villages Medical Auxiliary (VMA) and the Evergreen Villages Foundation (EVF) will continue the paper shredding responsibilities. In its 50-plus years, more than $125,000 was returned to The Villages golf course, Bocce courts, Pickleball courts, EPC, the new Clubhouse, the VMA and the Evergreen Foundation from High Twelve projects.

Another item that will remain in The Villages is a Masonic grandfather clock that stands at the Clubhouse entrance. It was donated to The Villages in November 2024.

It’s been a wonderful journey assisting our neighbors, friends, and, in a small way, “mother earth.” As the baton passes, we bid farewell and wish The Villages health and success.
