One of the most meaningful times in my ministry over the decades has been to serve as a Hospice Chaplain. I am sure that I learned more from the families that I served than what I was able to give. As families and their beloved approached their “one of many transitions in life,” as I call it, I have so many wonderful memories of love and gratitude of those under hospice care as well as of their families and friends. One of the comments I often heard in various forms as a Hospice Chaplain was: “He/she is still with us – just in a different way.” We are coming up to All Saints Sunday on November 3 at Trinity Chapel and doing as the church has been doing for millennia, “remembering that though our beloved may no longer be with us, they are nonetheless with us – just in a different way.”
