“Live Love Sing” launched this week at the Open House for the VMS Voices, The Villages’ no-audition chorus populated by people who love the arts and are committed to providing music performance and appreciation opportunities to Villages residents. Along with the Voices, the Music Society entities provide and support live entertainment in The Villages which adds to the vibrancy of the community at large and enriches the lives of those who participate.

New and returning members were welcomed by the Social Committee team with healthy and sweet snacks and good old fashion warmth and kindness. After the meet-and-greet, attendance was taken and music packets we assigned. The group was welcomed and led through the music by returning Music Director Catherine Alcorin-Ellacer and Piano Accompanist Tammy Welsh. Performance dates are already set so save the date for May 2 and 4, both matinee performances which will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale in April.

The overall composition of the chorus changes from season-to-season but is anchored by returning members, some of whom have contributed their talents for decades. Members pay seasonal dues of $25 which offsets the costs for professional services of the Director and Accompanist. An anonymous donor has contributed to help with the cost of new music.

As we begin this new season, our aim is to deliver another successful program as was accomplished for our two sold out performances in December of “A Winter Spectacular”.

If you missed the Open House, you may join us for the February 5 rehearsal at Foothill center. Arrive early so that we can get you situated to begin on time at 7 p.m.

If you would like to volunteer your talents to supporting the business of the Voices please contact a member of the Board of Directors to discuss our areas of need which include: Web Design/Content, Communications, Event Support (ushers, room set, décor, sound and lights).
