Heartfelt thanks to all Villagers who recycled, reused and participated in the sustainability programs offered at The Villages and elsewhere this past year.
Through Villagers participation, The Villages was able to recycle over a half ton (1040.5 pounds) of household batteries between June and December of 2024 at monthly community battery collection days.
The spring and fall community e-waste events resulted in nearly seven tons (13,994 pounds) of recycled electronic waste. Not only was nearly seven tons of e waste saved from landfills, it also provided on the job skills for young adults through the sponsorship of San Jose Conservation Corp – Zero Waste Silicon Valley program.
Monthly “Recycle Right” tips were shared with the community with options for local disposal of items that are not recyclable in The Villages trash or recycling bins.
In the new year additional opportunities will be offered for Villagers to recycle right.
For those that need to recycle household hazardous waste please contact The Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal site for an appointment 408 299-7300. This is a free service.
