
On Tuesday, June 3, Dan Rusanowsky will be the speaker at the Villages Men’s Fun Social Club luncheon. Dan, a veteran Radio Play-By-Play announcer recently completed his 34th season as the “Voice of the Sharks.” He has called over 2000 Sharks regular season games and has been behind the microphone for all 241 playoff games in Sharks history.
Social Club members should make lunch reservations at least a week in advance on the computer website referenced in the monthly Social Club newsletter.
Non-member guests are invited to attend and should arrive at the Clubhouse by 12:15 p.m.
Dan was named the 2023 Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winner, awarded “to recognize distinguished members of the radio and television industry who made outstanding contributions to their profession and the game during their career in hockey broadcasting.” This recognition results in a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame. In addition to Sharks broadcasts, Dan appears regularly on regional stations and SiriusXM’s NHL channel, to talk about the Sharks and the National Hockey League. Dan makes numerous public speaking appearances in the community. He serves on the executive board of the Silicon Valley Boy Scouts of America and has served on advisory boards for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley and the Services for Brain Injury organization.
Before arriving in the Bay Area, Dan provided radio play-by-play call for the American Hockey League’s New Haven Nighthawks and was the voice of St. Lawrence University’s NCAA Division 1 hockey program. He received a bachelor’s degree at St. Lawrence and earned his M.B.A. at Clarkson University.
