Community Chapel: ‘Your Time Has Come’

By Patricia Galli

There was a time in our lives when we took things for granted because we felt more in control and could do as we desired within limitations. There would be situations that we quickly reacted to, whether good or bad. You could say that we had that “get up and go!” Some of us could dance the night away and put in a full day’s work the next morning without problems because of our strength, flexibility, energy and endurance.

As Father Time continues counting down, the things we could do with ease are now more demanding and some of us realize that we must shift our gears and change lanes.

At some point, you may have to adjust your calls to a different set of friends. You realize that some of your friends enjoy burning the candle at both ends rather than pursuing loftier, healthier goals.

Each decade of our lives call for a different shift in behavior, and hopefully, for the better. Changes are occurring rapidly, and we are challenged to stay current with the times. If we don’t keep up, it can cause people to think less of themselves and stop connecting with others. The longer we live, the greater the challenges, primarily physical, mental, social, technological and other areas.

Life will cause you to change your focus if you want to maintain a good quality of life. When we were more physically fit, we could take more risks and bounce back quickly, but a simple cold can linger for weeks as we age. As years go by, we can no longer afford to ignore or neglect the early warnings of changes in our daily abilities. Regular inventory should be mandatory because no one enjoys running out of gas or oil when a simple fluid check could have prevented a sudden stop.

While you have insight and reasonable strength within you, it is wise to make the appropriate shift in your life because we can’t recapture those former years. The longer we live, the more time we have been given to think and make good choices about what stories of our lives will be told to others. Let’s make our time here memorable so we live life fully and end it in joy, not regret. Proverbs 22:1-2  1 “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.” 2 “The rich and the poor have this in common; The Lord is the maker of them all.”

Please join us at the Villages Community Chapel in Cribari Auditorium this Sunday at 10 a.m. to be encouraged over the Word of Life and enjoy coffee and cookies with friends. We will be starting A new series: “More Than Enough.” The chapel is where needs are met, faith is affirmed, and new friends are made.
