EPC Transition Committee sunsets and new EP Program ramps up

On Monday, March 24, the General Manager, Theresa Ostrander, Public Safety Director, Matt Hidalgo, and our new Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Kayla Holmes, worked in tandem with the Emergency Preparedness Transition Committee (EPTC) to hold an open forum for all 400 EPC volunteers. This hour-and-half event gave leadership an opportunity to share the latest updates. These updates included presenting the new organizational structure. EPC and the evolving EP Coordinator will work together with The Villages EPC volunteers reporting to Kayla. Kayla, who stepped into her position on March 3, introduced herself and her 15 years’ experience in the Emergency Medical Training (EMT) field. Attendees also learned of the EP program beginnings, starting with the development of the Command Center. When an emergency occurs, the Command Center will be the location where key staff and EPC volunteers as well as outside emergency support receive clear direction, reducing confusion and increasing responsiveness. The meeting closed with reminding us that while the new Emergency Preparedness program takes shape, the mission remains the same—to establish the most resilient and effective response framework that prioritizes the well-being of all Villagers. To achieve this mission, we need you!
